The ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russia, Jong-Tae Ick, on Thursday evening presented the Fedor Dostoevsky house-museum with an edition of the writer's works, translated into Korean and printed in that country. At a ceremony the South Korean envoy emphasized that he was "proud and delighted to be able to give the museum some books translated into the Korean language". In his opinion the edition forms "one more piece of evidence that the genius of Dostoevsky is recognized in Korea, just as in the rest of the world". "Dostoevsky", said the diplomat, "is not just a Russian writer, but a world classic".

For her part the museum's director, Galina Ponomareva made it clear that the edition which had been donated would find its place in one of the museum's exhibitions.

Jong-Tae Ick stressed his delight at the growth of cultural and humanitarian collaboration between Russia and South Korea. He reported that the Russian language and literature are being studied by students in 50 universities across Korea.
