Consolidation of Russian-Polish relations -- main aim of Igor Ivanov's visit to Poland
The main aim of the visit to Poland by Igor Ivanov, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, is to consolidate positive tendencies in Russian-Polish relations, said in a RIA Novosti interview Alexander Yakovenko, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, in connection with Igor Ivanov's visit to Poland on June 19-21.
Alexander Yakovenko noted that Igor Ivanov's forthcoming talks with the Polish leadership are a "logical continuation of the actively developing bilateral political dialogue." During the forthcoming meetings the sides will make an all-round analysis of the implementation of the agreements reached during the meetings between Vladimir Putin and Aleksander Kwasniewski in January and June of the current year. The agreements achieved by the presidents "are aimed at raising cooperation between our countries to the level of a mature good-neighbourly partnership," stressed Yakovenko.
During the Russian Foreign Minister's visit to Poland the first meeting will be held of the committee for issues of the strategy of Russian-Polish Cooperation which the foreign ministers are heading. The most important cooperation problems and improvement of the contractual-legal base will be discussed during that meeting, said Yakovenko.
