China welcomes Russo-US accord on radical reduction of strategic nuclear arms
China welcomes the attainment of the Russo-US accord on a radical reduction of long-range nuclear arms which will make it possible to substantially reduce the offensive potential of the two countries, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Tang Jiaxuan who is staying in Jakarta on an official visit said in a telephone talk with US Secretary of State Colin Powell. As Chinese sources reported, Colin Powell informed Tang Jiaxuan of the accord between the USA and Russia on strategic offensive arms. The Chinese Minister expressed hope that Washington and Moscow would go on making efforts to cut their nuclear arsenals and would thereby ensure progress in nuclear disarmament throughout the world.
