Russian Politicians to Outline New Russia-NATO Relations at Prague Conference Tomorrow
The international conference 'NATO-EU-Russia: Together Against New Threats to International Security', which has been organised by the German council for foreign policy and the Russian council for foreign and defence policy, will be held in Prague on November 15. A Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the German council for foreign policy that the conference was being held as a lead-up to the NATO summit at the end of November, where some new members will be welcomed into the alliance.
The famous German political scientist Alexander Rar said that Russia, which strongly opposed plans for NATO expansion to the East during the nineties, is now seeking close cooperation with the alliance. According to Mr Rar, Russian politicians will present proposals at the conference on how to cooperate against the threat of terrorism.
The Russian delegation at the conference 'NATO-EU-Russia: Together Against New Threats to International Security' will include Presidential Advisor Sergei Yastrzhembsky, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for International Affairs Dmitry Rogozin, Chairman of the International Committee of the Federation Council Mikhail Margelov and others. The West will be represented by three deputies of the NATO general secretary, deputy chief of the EU armed forces, experts of the EU committee, high-level officials from the foreign ministries of Germany, the USA, France, Italy, Austria and heads of strategical institutes of EU member-states.
