USA hopes to cooperate with Russia on ISS; Russia is unwilling

The United States of America is a longtime partner of Russia in the space industry. The US therefore looks forward to continuing cooperation in this area.

On May 13th, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, commenting on the statement from Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and Roscosmos chairman Oleg Ostapenko, said that the United States had been cooperating with Russia in the field of space program for a long time. The US hopes that this will continue. "We continue to cooperate on a number of issues," she said.

At a briefing in Moscow, Ostapenko and Rogozin said that Russia's participation in the International Space Station after 2020 was still pending. The U.S. has recently announced its readiness to operate the orbital complex before 2024. Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Russian Space Agency also warned that Russia could cut off the supplies of rocket engines NK-33 and RD-180 to the United States, if the US continued to use the engines for launching military satellites.
