Fighter jets were scrambled to escort a British passenger plane to Athens airport following a security alert. The Thomson Airways Boeing 757, with more than 200 passengers on board, landed safely at Athens having taken off from Bristol bound for the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Remains of a French passenger aircraft that crashed into the Atlantic killing all on board two years ago have been found, reports quoting French investigators and the airplane manufacturer said. Air France Airbus 320 flight from the Brazilian capital Rio de Janeiro to Paris crashed into the Atlantic on June 1, 2009, killing all 228 people on board.

The U.S. military will pull its warplanes from front-line missions Monday and shift to a support role in the Libyan conflict, a NATO official said.
