Georgia, a former republic of the Soviet Union, is going to get rid of Soviet and Russian models of weapons, including T-55, T-72 tanks and Mi-8 helicopters. The reason for this is the shortage of spare parts and inability to perform repairs in Russia. Previously, such services were provided in Ukraine, but Kiev requires a more substantial fee. Georgia currently has several dozens of such vehicles.

The chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and National Security of Georgia, Irakli Sesiashvili, said that officials currently discuss the further fate of military hardware in Georgia. The country's military budget for 2014 will make up approximately $400 million.
