Russia lifts ban on imports of some products

Beginning with Monday Russia's veterinary service has lifted the ban on imports of some types of products from a number of European countries. According to information from the veterinary department of the Russian Agriculture Ministry, the ban has been lifted on imports into Russia of fish, fish and marine products, poultry meat, egg powder, fishmeal for fodder, meat and dairy products, fodder and fodder additives, incubation and pathogenous microflora-free eggs, and one-day-old chickens. The given decision applies to Norway, Iceland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Rumania, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The ban has also been lifted on transits of livestock products from third countries via the sea ports of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with subsequent transportation through the territories of these countries for delivery in Russia and the CIS countries. Imports have also been permitted of veterinary preparations from all European countries, with the exception of Britain, the Netherlands, France and Ireland. On March 26 Russia imposed a ban on imports of livestock breeding products, fish and marine products from the European Union, East European and Baltic countries in connection with the threat of the spread of the foot-and-mouth disease there.
