According to Russia's Foreign Ministry, our country's diplomats hope that the newly elected President of Bolivia, Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada 'will make a new contribution to the strengthening of the versatile cooperation existing between two our countries'.

Mr. Lozada who represents the Nationalistic Revolutionary Movement of Bolivia was elected President during voting in the country's National Congress on August 4. Russia's Foreign Ministry is satisfied that the elections were held according to Bolivia's Constitution and the universally accepted democratic norms, which is beneficial as concerns stability in the country and the whole Latin America.

Russia's Foreign Ministry also hopes that Mr. Lozada, who already was President from 1993 through 1997, will 'preserve Bolivia's traditionally friendly relations with Russia.
