USA to work for at least two years to clean Snowden's mess

Former U.S. intelligence officer Edward Snowden caused billions of dollars of damage to the national security of the United States, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces, General Martin Dempsey said.

Dempsey said that the interagency group to assess the damage that Snowden caused, would have to work for about two years, which indicates the scale of the problem. "I believe that the elimination of damage to our security will cost us billions of dollars," Dempsey said.

According to the Pentagon, Snowden stole about 1.7 million classified documents relating not only to intelligence activities, but also to all kinds of operations of the U.S. armed forces - the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps.

American experts concluded that the publication of classified information in the media gave USA's opponents an opportunity to obtain information about intelligence technology and jeopardized operations and lives of U.S. troops abroad.
