Sources close to negotiations for peace in the east of Ukraine, that currently take place in the capital of Belarus, Minks, said that representatives of Ukraine and the People's Republics of Donbass, with the participation of OSCE, signed the protocol on ceasefire in Donbas on September 5, from 18:00.

"The protocol to cease fire from 18:00, Friday, September 5, has been signed. The protocol consists of 14 paragraphs, which include all aspects of control, exchange of prisoners and other issues," an unnamed source told Interfax.

Meanwhile, the European Union may postpone the move to impose new sanctions on Russia if participants of the talks in Minsk agree on ceasefire, British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said.

Members of the meeting of the contact group in Minsk on September 5th include former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, Russian ambassador to Kiev Mikhail Zurabov, OSCE Special Representative Heidi Tagliavini, Prime Minister of self-proclaimed People's Republic of Donetsk Alexander Zakharchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Andrei Purgin and the head of the People's Republic of Luhansk, Igor Plotnitsky.
