Polish officers to fight hooliganism in World Cup

As usual, during the big world competitions organizations are afraid sally of aggression among people. Such situation is possible on World Cup in Germany. Poland decided to help Germany and to send police officers.

The unarmed officers have been posted to Berlin and other cities hosting World Cup matches and are charged mainly with helping their German counterparts identify troublemakers from Poland. They will not make arrests or take part directly in law enforcement, said Capt. Rafal Wasiak, a spokesman for Poland's national police force.

A group of assailants beat three men from Mozambique and Cuba in an apparent racist attack in eastern Germany , and one had to be hospitalized, police said Friday. The violence Thursday evening in the city of Weimar adds to a string of incidents that have raised renewed concern over racism and hate crimes in Germany , weeks before the soccer World Cup opens. One of the men, a 46-year-old Mozambican, was hospitalized with head injuries, said Ilka Vollmar, a police spokeswoman in nearby Jena . His life was not in danger, informs “Pravda.ru” recently.

"They will be very helpful in contacts between German police and Polish soccer fans," Wasiak said. Poland has already increased security checks on trains and at the German border, national police chief Marek Bienkowski said. Polish police have also given German officials a list of 500 Polish hooligans banned from entering stadiums in Poland, he added, reports the AP.
