German specialists criticize Swiss air traffic controllers
German specialists commenting on the plane collision above Germany have been increasingly critical of Swiss air traffic controllers.
Several weeks ago, according to Switzerland's TV reports, the Swiss bureau that investigates air accidents warned Skyguide about its radars, saying they "did not fully correspond" with European standards. For instance, the tableau displayed information about the whereabouts of an aircraft in a matter of 12 seconds instead of the required 8.
Specialists assume that if it weren't for the faulty radar, the Swiss air traffic controller could have informed the Russian pilot of the danger at least 4 second earlier.
However, the latest reports say Russian pilots were the first to have noticed the Boeing cargo jet approaching on a collision course.
