A group of nine well-known senators are planning to fly to Central Asia on January 10th to visit Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenia, Kirghizia and Afghanistan. This was reported on Thursday in Washington by the press service of the leader of the Senate majority, Thomas Daschle, who had initiated this tour to last for nine days, according to the preliminary estimates. At the present time the senators are waiting for an official permission from the US Department of Defence to visit Afghanistan, including the areas where military actions are still going on with the participation of American servicemen. The composition of the Senate delegation is being specified, but it is already known that it will include former candidate to the US presidency, Republican Senator John MacCain, and former candidate to the US Vice Presidency, Democratic Senator Joseph Lieberman.
