Left-handed woman receives Tennis Player of the Year Award. 45866.jpegPetra Kvitova, 21, was recognized as the WTA's player of the year of 2011. The athlete, a native of the Czech Republic, has won six titles during the latest season, including Wimbledon and final WTA championship, the Sovetsky Sport wrote.

"This was a dream come true year for me. This is an amazing achievement - to win the title of the player of the year and line up with greatest athletes, especially Martina Navratilova," Kvitova said.

Kvitova also won the title of the tennis player who reached the biggest progress. For her professionalism, her attitude to the sport and for observing fair play principles, Petra Kvitova won the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award.

It is worthy of note that Kvitova is left-handed. She is 183 cm high and weighs 70 kilos.

The best double team of the year title was awarded to the champions of Wimbledon 2011 Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik. The Comeback Player of the Year was awarded to Sabine Lisicki of Germany.
