Roger Waters from Pink Floyd Performs in St. Petersburg Today

Roger Waters from the legendary Pink Floyd will give his performance at the Ice Palace of St. Petersburg today. Waters, who became the band's leader when its creator Sid Barret left the group in 1967 after their first album was released, has been pursuing his solo career since the beginning of the 80s. Although led by Waters, Pink Floyd recorded such hits as Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall, many critics point out that his strong influence gradually turned into dictatorship that ultimately resulted in the group breaking up and a series of lawsuits.

Today Waters and Pink Floyd show no open hostility, but there can still be no talk of them getting back together. Music experts agree that Roger Waters is one of the best rock poets living. In his songs he criticises bourgeois society believing it to have given birth to fascism and exposes the ugliness of war as it is. His lyrics, deeply personal and moving, are set to great music to make the quintessence of his excellently staged shows.
