"New Postcards", the first personal exhibition of photographer Andrei Kuzin, opened at the media-centre of the Izvestia newspaper on Monday evening.

The exhibition is a contemporary interpretation of the old genres of photography.

The first Russian picture postcards appeared in 1894-1895. They featured sights of cities and countryside. The 24-year old photographer, working with a digital camera, does not change the subjects of his postcards. However, they present cities without association with familiar places.

More than 40 postcards, made over the last five years, are the result of the photographer's walks around Moroccan cities, St. Petersburg and, certainly, Moscow. He presents the night Moscow, moving, reflecting in pools and illuminated with bright neon lights.

Kuzin, a graduate from the philosophy department of Moscow State University, told a RIA Novosti correspondent that he wants to show the new architecture of cities in his postcards. The young photographer prefers to take pictures of night streets because twilight is the time of bright colours and contrasts.
