Mariinsky Theatre Gives Concert In London

On Monday a concert was given by the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre at the Barbican Centre in London. Conducting the orchestra was Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Theatre Valery Gergiev. The concert included Tchaikovsky's fifth symphony and attracted more than 1000 spectators who gave the orchestra a long ovation.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the world premiere of the famous Saint Petersburg film director Alexander Sokurov The Shrine of Russia took place at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports from London, the event attracted all the beau monde of London. Sir Michael of Kent, who is promoting the film devoted to Russia and the Romanov dynasty in Britain, was also present.

The exhibition '300 years of Saint Petersburg: Russia Open to the World' is currently being held in the Barbican Centre. The exhibition will last two more days.
