Days of German culture opened in Vladivostok

Days of German Culture were solemnly opened in Vladivostok (an administrative centre in the Far East) Thursday.

According to head of the Vladivostok German Cultural Centre Tatyana Likh, such meetings have already become a tradition, are held for the eighth time and timed for the Day of German Re-unification.

The program of the Days includes a photo exhibition, demonstration of German feature films, a student contest in German, an evening of romanticism and a performance by artistic groups.

On October 8th the string quartet Pro Musica with the participation of German ambassador to Russia Reinhart Kraus will give a concert of chamber music. For the first time Russian Quartets of Joseph Haydn will be played in Vladivostok. The pastor of the Lutheran Church, the honorary German Consul in Vladivostok Manfred Brokmann will also take an active part in the concerts on the sidelines of the Days of German Culture, noted Tatyana Likh.

The event was initiated by the German embassy in Russia, the honorary German consul in Vladivostok, the evangelical Lutheran community of St. Paul, the German national and cultural autonomy in Prymorye and the Far Eastern State Technical University.
