Winners of the Judo Grand-Prix in Moscow, 2001 world champions and the best wrestlers in the world rating will take part in the Masters tournament at the end of the month in Budapest with the prize fund of USD 500,000.

In addition to monetary prizes the world best judoists will compete for the super prize: the medal of the first judo tournament of that caliber in history.

Thus, before that prize funds of such tournaments to have taken place earlier in Monaco, United Arab Emirates and Poland never exceeded USD 100,000. Grand-Prix winners in Moscow will split between themselves exactly that sum.

3 Olympic champions, 3 world champions, 6 European champions and 23 winners of these prestigious Grand-Prix series tournaments will participate in the Moscow event.

Among Russian judoists one should single out world champions Vitaly Makarov (weight category of 73 kg) and Aleksander Mikhailin (over 100 kg) as well as winner of a European championship Tamerlan Tmenov (over 100 kg).
