The birth of the baby confirmed the forecast from the United Nations specialists, who said that planet Earth would have the seven-billion-strong population on October 31.

Peter Nikolaev was born at the maternity hospital of the city of Kaliningrad at 00:02 Moscow time, NIA Krasnoyarsk news agency said. The time of the baby's birth was registered by medics and a UN observer. The mother of the child will receive a special certificate from the United Nations - "Born on the day of seven billions," Utro.Ru reports.

The baby is 50 cm tall and weighs 3 kilos.

However, other sources say that the seven billionth resident of our planet was born in the Russian city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the Kamchatka region. According to the UN population fund and the Russian Statistics Agency, the certificate of the seven-billionth human being on Earth should be awarded to the first child, who sees the light on October 31, 2011. The first child, who was born on October 31, was the boy named Alexander, Arguments.ru says.

There were a bit more than one billion people living on planet Earth 200 years ago, Vesti.ru reports. In 1650, the planet had 500 million inhabitants. The one-billionth child was born 150 years later. The number of the global population subsequently doubled in less than a century.

The population grew to three billion in only 43 years and then to four billion in 15 more years. The six-billionth inhabitant of our planet saw the light in 1999. China and India are two most populated countries in the world. The USA comes third, Russia is ranked ninth.
