Festival of khomus music to take place in Yakutia in June

The First International Festival of Guimbarde (Khomus, or Jew's harp) Music will take place in Moscow on June 9-10. The event will be held on the territory of the Moscow House of Nationalities and in Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.

Prominent masters of guimbarde music - Ayarkhaan ensemble and Ivan Alekseyev (Yakutia), Frantz Kumpl (Austria), Tran Quang Hai (Vietnam), Li Wang (China), Daniel Hentshel (Netherlands), Sylvain Trias (France), "Turbodzen Band" (Moscow), Cheynesh (Altai), "Sornay" (Tatarstan), Mindigafur Zaynetdinov (Bashkortostan ), Olite Tevlyanaut  and Eugene Kaypanau (Chukotka), and others - are going to take part in the festival.

The musicians will hold a series of master classes. Everyone will have an opportunity to take part in Khomustar contest, purchase Yakutian khomus and get acquainted with Yakutian smiths who know all secrets of the making of the ancient musical instrument, SakhaNews reports.
