World's first video game marks 40 years

This week marks the 40th anniversary of the oldest video game in the world. The gaming industry that now earns billions of dollars started with a simple game of Ping-Pong on a black-and-white screen. The game called "Pong" was released by US company Atari on November 29, 1972, reports the Daily Mail.

"Pong" is one of the first games that became very popular. It was a two-dimensional simulation of a Ping-Pong table. The game became the ancestor of all modern video games that currently bring up the profits of up to 65 billion dollars a year.

The game was very simple: the player controls the movement of two plates on the screen. The simplicity and fun of the game struck people's imagination 40 years ago, making Atari one of the first major companies involved in video games.

The game was designed by Allan Alcorn, an expert in computers and electronics, who received a task from co-founders of Atari to create a simulator. Alcorn used a black-and-white Hitachi TV as a display.
