Russian MP offers to ban fourth marriage

In Russia's Voronezh, local lawyer and social activist Evgeny Mazepin became concerned about the attitude of the Russian society to the institute of family and marriage. In his opinion, it is necessary to prohibit Russian citizens from getting married more than three times.

Through the Committee on Family, Women and Children, Mazepin intends to take the adequate draft law to the State Duma. The document was developed with a purpose of forming a more serious attitude to family and marriage in Russia.

The fourth and subsequent marriage will thus be possible to register only if there are valid circumstances, by judicial process.

Meanwhile, the first deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on Family Olga Batalina said that is not familiar with the author of the initiative, and the very initsiattivu considered "questionable."

"This activist from Voronezh for some reason decided to refer to our committee - I do not know whether deputies venture to introduce such a doubtful initiative," Olga Batalina, first deputy chairwoman of the Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children wrote.
