Facebook blocked in Tajikistan again for no particular reason

The fans of social networking in Tajikistan can not log into their accounts on Facebook today. This is the second time this year when the state blocks Zuckerberg's monster network.

Several companies in Tajikistan that provide Internet services, as well as a number of Internet providers, have received oral instructions from the Communication Services of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to block Facebook, TJinform reports. For the time being, the reason, for which the department has resorted to blocking the popular social network, remains unknown. Subscribers of three local providers say that they could not access the social network on Monday morning.

Facebook has thus been blocked in Tajikistan for the second time this year, Asia-Plus says. The Tajik Communications Service took this measure for the first time on March 3rd, urging Internet providers to block access not only to Facebook, but to several other websites too: Zvezda.ru, Tjknews.com and Maxala.org. However, access to Facebook has been restored in a week, but other web resources still remain blocked.

It should be noted that Facebook is very popular among the local population. Thus, the number of users in Tajikistan already exceeds 26 thousand people, which is more than the circulation of any independent publication of the country, said NTV.
