About 100,000 people visited "Civil Aviation-2002" exhibition

On Tuesday Aleksander Neradko, deputy transport minister of Russia and head of the organizing committee of the international "Civil Aviation-2002" show stated that about 100,000 people had visited the exhibition in Domodedovo (Moscow region).

According to the deputy minister, "certain events of the air show and the exhibition in general largely contributed to the establishment of a constructive dialogue between aircraft business and power institutions which regulated the activities of civil aviation and aircraft industry as well as to the subsequent development of the industry in general." During the exhibition Russia's first deputy Transport Minister and Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization Costa Pereira signed an agreement to establish a training center for flight safety inspectors in Russia.

Also within the exhibition, they organized a "round table" devoted to major problems of Russia's air transport. During the meeting attended by Russian Transport Minister Sergei Frank, deputy General Director of the Russian aviation and space agency Valery Voskoboinikov, first deputy Transport Minister Aleksander Neradko, managers of Russia's leading airlines, enterprises of aviation industry and air transport they considered prospects of the renovation of the aircraft fleet, development and production of new aircraft and leasing of aviation equipment and also other most important matters of development of Russian civil aviation.

During the aviation show a number of important contracts and agreements was signed in the area of shipment and operation of aviation equipment, including shipment by the "Ilyushin-Finances" company of 6 TU-204 aircraft to the KrasAir company, on joint operation of AN-140 aircraft by the Russian "EurAsia" company and a number of Ukrainian airlines. The Sukhoi design bureau together with the Ilyushin company and the American "Boeing" corporation presented at the Domodedovo show a prospective project of a new Russian regional aircraft with 60-90 seats capacity. Also commencement was announced of the third stage of implementation of the program of development of the Domodedovo international airport till 2010.

The exhibition presented more than 80 flying machines including TU-334, AN-124-100, AN-38, IL-103 and S-80 aircraft, Mi-26 and MI-171 helicopters, as well as special equipment for provision of ground services in airports.
