On Tuesday the Moscow city court left unchanged the sentence earlier passed on the former head of the Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant, Alexander Bykov, by the Meshchansky intermunicipal court on June 19.

Accordingly, the court dismissed the defense counsels' appeal, insisting on cancelling the sentence and closing the criminal case against their defendant.

Moreover, the Moscow city court dismissed the protest made by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office against the sentence passed by the Meshchansky court. The prosecuting counsel asked to send the case to the Meshchansky court for a new consideration.

The Moscow Meshchansky court found Bykov guilty of the attempted murder of the Krasnoyarsk businessman Vilor Struganov, better known as "Pasha-Colour Music" in certain circles, as well as of illegal purchasing and keeping arms. Despite this, the court sentenced Bykov to 6.5 years of suspended imprisonment with a 5-year trial period "without being socially confined".

After the verdict had been pronounced, Bykov was released from custody.
