Russian designer creates levitating computer mouse

Russian industrial designer Vadim Kibardin, who lives in Prague, designed a levitating wireless mouse that he called the Bat.

The device looks like a computer mouse that does not touch the surface of the desk in the work mode and remains hanging above it.

The mouse was created primarily to struggle with the tunnel syndrome - the ailment that occurs over the compression of the nerve between the bones and tendons of the wrist, ITAR-TASS said with reference to Kibardindesign website.

The Bat consists of two parts: the platform and the mouse itself. The platform contains a magnetic coil, and the second magnetic coil is contained inside the mouse.

The magnetic field ensures that the mouse hangs in the air. The distance from the manipulator to the platform is 4 cm. When a person puts their hand on the mouse, the distance is reduced to about 1 cm.

The platform dimensions are 240x240x20 mm, the mouse - 135x145x40 mm. The weight of the complete set is 2 kg. The device is made of plastic and uses electric power.

According to the design studio, the working prototype of the device was created in collaboration with partners in the Netherlands and China. It will take engineers about a year to complete the prototype and research the market before the start of commercial production.
