Yul Brynner's son arrives in Vladivostok

Dr. Rock Brynner, the son of famed Hollywood actor Yul Brynner, is among the most popular guests of the first Vladivostok international film festival. Brynner Jr. came to Vladivostok, which is his father's birthplace, thus restoring the continuity of generations. This was disclosed to RIA-NOVOSTI here today by Dr. Rock Brynner himself.

In his words, Yul Brynner left Vladivostok while still a kid, never coming back again. Professor and author Rock Brynner, who teaches history at Columbia University, New York, has now visited Moscow and Vladivostok.

The US consulate-general arranged a meeting between Dr. Rock Brynner and local residents at the regional history museum. Dr. Brynner talked about Yul Brynner's odyssey between Vladivostok and Hollywood over the 1920-1985 period. Dr. Brynner also delivered a lecture on the need for drafting the US Constitution at the Far Eastern state university a bit earlier.

Dr. Brynner is to meet music fans September 16, delivering a report about the influence of rock 'n' roll on the US and global culture.

It's intended to show Yul Brynner's old movies, i.e. "The King And I", "The Magnificent Seven" and "The Karamazov Brothers", during the Vladivostok festival. Dr. Brynner also brought photos, copies of his father's essays and articles for a local museum, which was built with the help of the Brynner family.

My exciting Vladivostok trip is a crucial event of my life, also constituting a new and bright turn of my destiny, Dr. Brynner believes. This trip enables me to complete memoirs about my genealogy, he stressed.

The well-known family of mining industry tycoon Brynner was quite respected in Vladivostok before the Bolshevik revolution. The Brynner clan seriously influenced the development of the Primorye (Maritime) territory. The Brynners emigrated to Harbin, eventually surfacing in Paris. The family then settled down in the United States.
