The Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak on August 13 overnight. According to astronomers, humans will be able to witness an impressive sight - one will be able to see up to 100 meteors per hour.

The Perseid meteor shower is the champion among well-known meteor showers on the number of unusually bright "shooting stars." The phenomenon occurs when the Earth enters the dust trail of Comet Swift-Tuttle. The comet has an orbital period of 133 years. It fits the classical definition of a Halley-type comet with a period between 20 and 200 years.
