Metro Cash&Carry to Invest USD 48 Million in Saint Petersburg Trade Centres
Metro Cash&Carry is investing USD 48 million in the construction of two wholesale trade centres on Bogatirsky Prospect and Kossigin Prospect in Saint Petersburg. This was announced by General Director of the company Herbert Zlabinger at the laying of the cornerstone of the trade centres. According to him, the shops will be equipped in line with the latest warehousing and storage technologies for food products and other goods.
The total area of the trade centers will be about 15000 square metres, of which 8500 square metres will be used for the shop floors. An indoor car park is also planned. Furthermore, both shops will have a developed area of greenery of more than 5000 square metres.
There will be an assortment of over 12000 different food products and 9000 other goods. The shops will be opened in the spring of 2003.
The opening of each shop will provide about 400 extra jobs. The total number of METRO Cash&Carry employees in Russia is more than 2100.
