The main purpose of Alexander Lukashenko's visit to China is to work out strategic directions of Belarus-China cooperation in the 21st century. The President of Belarus arrived in China on Sunday on a three-day state visit at the invitation of Chinese Chairman Jiang Zemin. The talks between the Belarussian President and Chinese leaders are to begin in Beijing on Monday. He will meet head of the PRC Jiang Zemin, Premier of the State Council Zhu Rongji and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Peng. A package of bilateral Belarussian-Chinese documents is expected to be signed during the visit. The joint declaration on strategic relations in which the guidelines in the political, trade-economic, scientific-technical and other spheres is to be determined will be the principal of these documents.
