Volume of Russian offshore programming to reach $350m in 2002

The volume of Russian offshore programming will reach $350m in 2002. The corresponding figure for 2001 was $154m, First Deputy Communication Minister Andrey Korotkov reported at the international conference "The National Strategy of the Information Society Development. Experience, Problems, Prospects."

According to Korotkov, there are 7.5 computers per 100 residents of Russia now. (The corresponding figure for 2000 was 6.4 computers). The total number of computers in Russia is about 11m now. Korotkov remarked that successful development of information and communication technologies first of all required improvement of the respective infrastructure.
