GAZ automobile producer may undergo restructuring
The board of directors of the GAZ automobile producer could make a decisionon restructuring the company in the near future, Dmitry Strezhnev, thegeneral director of the RusPromAvto company, which is the generalproprietor of GAZ, reported at a press conference within the MoscowInternational Motor Show 2002. According to him, the company will bedivided into specific 'business units' in order to increase theirinvestment attractiveness. Strezhnev said that after this, companies whichhad previously worked within GAZ only, would have an opportunity to dealwith other partners. For example, the stamping and pressing plant (NizhnyNovgorod) has been working for the GAZ company only; its capacities havebeen used for 40 percent.
