Data on Russia's foreign trade turnover released

In the first half of 2002, the foreign trade turnover of Russia amounted to $74.513bn, which was 2.3 percent less than in the first six months of 2001, the State Statistics Committee of Russia reported. In June 2002, foreign trade turnover was $12.968bn decreasing by 6.2 percent against the previous level.

In January-June 2002, exports from Russia reached $47.785bn (in June - $8.166bn), imports amounting to $26.728bn (in June - $4.802bn). As compared to the first half of 2001, exports went down by 7 percent (in June - by 10.7 percent); imports gained 7.3 percent (in June - 2.5 percent).

Exports to the CIS countries were $7.204bn in the first six months of 2002, which was 3.7 percent less than in January-June 2001. Imports from CIS countries reached $5.469bn declining by 21.9 percent. Exports to other foreign countries went down by 7.6 percent against the corresponding period of 2001 and amounted to $40.581bn. Imports were $21.259bn gaining 18.7 percent.
