Sydney Gas Company Green Memorandum
Sydney Gas Company NL and Hunter Specialty Steels Ltd signed memorandum of understanding, which provides the potential benefits of supplying coalbed methane gas (CMG) as an alternative "green" energy source to a new Hunter Valley steel mill.
If sufficient volumes and compositions of CMG are found in the area, Sydney Gas will build a drilling operation beside HSSL's steel mill on the Macquarie Generation Industry Zone in the upper Hunter.
The final aim of this project not only to explore the potential use of coalbed methane but also to promote the `green' energy benefits of natural gas.
