Moscow companies' industrial output rises 6.3% in January-July 2002

The industrial output was RUR190.2bn (around $6.03bn) in January-July 2002in Moscow, an increase of 6.3 percent as compared to the similar periodlast year, the Moscow State Statistics Committee reported. In July 2002 theindustrial output rose 22 percent from the figure reported in July 2001,while in June 2001 an increase of 19.4 percent was posted against June oflast year, while in May - 26.3 percent. The industrial output of large andmiddle-sized companies of the Russian capital was RUR168.7bn (around$5.35bn), an increase of 4.8 percent from the figure reported in thecorresponding period last year. Food product companies increased theiroverall production volume by 5.2 percent in January-July 2002 as comparedto the similar period last year. Chemical and petrochemical companiesboosted their production volume by 46.4 percent, printing companies - by 3percent, fuel companies - by 5 percent, timber, wood-processing and pulpand paper companies - by 9.8 percent, machinery and metal companies - by6.5 percent in January-July 2002. .
