Inflation will not surpass 14 percent in Russia from December 2001 to December 2002 or 14.3-15.5 percent in 2002 on average, says the statement 'Aims of the monetary policy', published by the Central Bank today. According to the report, the GDP will be up 3.5-4 percent.

The Central Bank's department for external and public relations announced that a consistent reduction in inflation remained the main goal of the monetary policy for 2002. The source stated that the influence of the Cabinet's policy, regarding prices on goods and services of natural monopolies, on the general price dynamics had strengthened significantly recently.
