Russia's truck and car producer KamAZ reported its sales proceeds for the first half of 2002. They reached 7.835bn rubles (about $249m). In particular, it sold 8,128 trucks, 19,300 cars, 11,150 engines and other products, a source in KamAZ reported to RBC.

However, these sales are still lower than plans for this year and sales results achieved last year on the domestic market. This reduction in sales on the domestic market was compensated for by a significant increase in exports of trucks in June. A similar situation was observed over several previous months of this year. The source in the company stressed that KamAZ had reached record high export results after the 1998 crisis and supplied 2,312 trucks to foreign countries since the beginning of 2002. This was more than twice as much as in the first half of 2001.
