Ivanovo region discusses 'Open Government'

A "round table" meeting was held in Ivanovo on August 30th. The meeting was dedicated to the urgent measures for the introduction of the "Open Government" system. Region's Vice-Governor Victor Smirnov moderated the meeting.

According to him, the main purpose of the "Open Government" is to involve citizens in the decision-making process that affects the interests of the majority of residents.

""Open Government" is not a structure, but a set of principles and mechanisms. Now we are creating the "road map" - the list of necessary activities to launch these mechanisms. It will determine the terms and the expected results," said Victor Smirnov.

In turn, the Vice Rector of the Ivanovo State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Dmitry Polyvyanny noted that it was not only public authorities that should be open, but also the structures and organizations that implement their decisions.

All comments and suggestions that were made during the "round table" meeting will be included in the "road map" of the project. The map will be uploaded on the Internet for public discussion.
