Ivanovo Airport to turn into major air hub

Russia continues restoring interregional air communication. From November 3, 2014, from the airport of Ivanovo, Orenburzhye Airline will open flights between Ivanovo and Kazan.

The flights on the new route will be funded from the federal budget.

"The fact that during the last few years, the Russian Ministry of Transport has actively supported interregional and intraregional communication is obviously positive. Indeed, in such a large country as Russia, it is impossible to live without binding transport. It goes about not only railways, but also aviation, - Andrei Andreyev, member of the State Duma Committee for Transport said. - If regional aviation develops, then one can say that the country lives. If civil aviation "lies on its side," then one can say that the huge Russian Federation will not exist as a country, as a state."

Currently, Russian Border Services consider opening a border checkpoint on the basis of the air hub in 2015. This will make it possible to introduce international flights.

"For passengers, it would, of course, be more convenient if there were some flights abroad, - says Alexei Sinitsky, chief editor of Air Transport Observer. - Clearly, they will be most popular tourist destinations."
