The head of the Nizhny Novgorod provided report to Legislative Assembly

Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev reported on the work of the regional government to the deputies of the Legislative Assembly. The procedure was introduced in 2009 on the initiative of the head of the region.

"This is a serious detailed report, in which the Governor speaks not only of what has been done, but also sets targets for the future, - the chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Evgeny Lebedev said. - Today, the interaction of the regional parliament and the regional government is based on constructive grounds, which allows to solve major social and economic problems. We work together on key bills to improve existing legislation. We have the main common goal - to improve the quality of life for residents of Nizhny Novgorod region."

As Valery Shantsev noted, the results of the past year make it possible to continue to address the issues of economic growth and improve the living standards of Nizhny Novgorod residents. The head of the Nizhny Novgorod region also spoke about the challenges that the regional government faced.

"By 2020, we need to reach the level of fiscal capacity of about 85,000 rubles per person. Currently, the figure in the region is 43,000. That is, we will have to nearly double the budgetary provision. Every resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region  should benefit from this economic growth in their everyday lives. Obviously, one needs to introduce new technologies, automate production, increase labor productivity."

The plans also include the reconstruction of the international airport. The first terminal of 27,800 square meters is to be put in operation in 2015. The second and third terminals are to be built in the future as well.

The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region considers it necessary to increase the volumes of housing construction 1.5-2 times.

"Housing is in short supply here, economy class housing is in special demand, - said Valery Shantsev. - Although the region enjoys good ranks, the volume of 1.5 million square meters a year is not enough. One must build one meter per person - that is three million square meters a year."
