Yakutia welcomes children of Asia and UNESCO masterpieces

International Festival "The meeting of UNESCO's Masterpieces of the land of Olonkho" will take place within the international games, "Children of Asia" in Yakutia. The festival will present masterpieces of non-material cultural heritage, in which spiritual, philosophical and cultural values of humanity are concentrated.

To date, UNESCO's list contains 90 masterpieces of non-material  Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is expected that representatives from 12 countries will attend the event. The Cultural Heritage of Russia at the festival will be represented by the Yakutian heroic epos "Olonkho" and the cultural space and oral folk arts of Semeisky Old Believers of Zabaikalye.

The list of participants of the festival Yakut impresses with its diversity. Here are just a few of them: Indonesian puppet show "Wayang," puppet theatre of wandering puppets Namsadan Nori from South Korea, Chinese opera Kuntsyuy, wandering musicians from Bangladesh, the Italian "Opera dei Pupi".

The Fifth International Sports Games "Children of Asia" will be held on July 4-14, 2012 in three cities of Yakutia (Mirny, Neryungri, Yakutsk). More than 1.3 thousand athletes from 31 countries of the world will take part in the sports competition on 20 disciplines. Olympic Village "Sergeleeh" has already accepted its first guests - the members of the team of the Ural Federal District in swimming, who arrived from Yekaterinburg to take part in "Children of Asia" Games.

Dmitry Shabalin, the head coach of the team, explained the reason for the early arrival of the team: "Since in our hometown all swimming pools closed for summer, we decided to come a little early to have time to prepare for the competition. We are pleased that Yakutsk gave us a very warm welcome, accommodated us very well provided an opportunity to practice."
