Sergei Govorukhin: Gunmen may start killing hostages already today - 25 October, 2002 - News

“Terrorists who keep hostages in the Theatre Centre in Moscow could start killing hostages already today, at 22:00 (MSK). This was reported by Sergei Govorukhin, the son of famous film director and politician Stanislav Govorukhin who has been to the captured building. According to NTV, Sergei Govorukhin and Dmitry Belovetsky, editor of the newspaper Literaturnaya Gazeta, brought to the captured building potable water and goods of personal hygiene.

The gunmen told to Sergei Govorukhin they wanted no longer negotiate and would open fire next time in case some negotiators neared the building.

The negotiations will not be continued till the main demand of the terrorist is carried out: the withdrawal of troops from Chechnya. At 19:54 (MSK) in the captured building, there were the head of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ex-prime minister of Russia Yevgeny Primakov and State Duma deputy from Chechnya Aslanbek Aslakhanov, journalist Anna Politkovskaya, and two representatives of Red Cross, who brought potable water for the hostages.
