Russia army does not ban Apple phones, official says

 

An official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major-General Igor Konashenkov, said that there were no restrictions imposed on the use of means of mobile communication at the Russian Armed Forces, let alone the restrictions on the use of products of a certain manufacturer, Echo of Moscow radio station said. 

According to the official, the existent restrictions on the use of means of mobile communication by Russian servicemen concern not specific brands or phone models, but places and time of their use in soldiers' everyday life. Apparently, it goes about operations, during which it is forbidden to use smartphones.

It was reported earlier that the use of Apple smartphones was supposedly banned from military service in Russia, as the devices could track down soldiers' activities and movements.
