According to Russia's chief sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko, to combat alcoholism in the country, one should raise the minimum price for a bottle of vodka up to 300 rubles ($10).

However, Onishchenko believes, a rise in prices will not be able to defeat alcoholism. One should struggle against geographical and temporal availability of alcoholic beverages.

It is worthy of note that to date, the minimum retail price of vodka in Russia makes up 170 rubles. Earlier, it was reported that the Ministry of Health was planning to raise prices on cigarettes.
