Incidents connected with bears
Two incidents, connected with bears, have taken place in the Russian Far East of late.
The militia in the Maritime Territory reported on Monday that on Sunday evening a brown bear attacked a man in the vicinity of the village of Ust-Sobolevskoye in the taiga. The man was seriously injured, and now the doctors are doing their best to save his life.
Also on Sunday, on the Chukotka Peninsula in the Sea of Okhotsk, a white bear appeared on the runway of Peveka airport. As the administration of the airport reported, the men from the air traffic safety service started to take measures to drive the unwanted guest out of the airfield. However, the bear was frightened not by the people, but by the noise of the engine of the nearby tractor which was started at that moment, and the animal went away towards the Arctic Ocean.
Experts link the aggressiveness of the bears with the early winter in the Russian Far East and a certain violation of the natural cycle in the life of these animals.
