Tennis: Elena Bovina makes first final

Elena Bovina was the figure of the week at the Estoril Open Tennis Tournament in Portugal. The darling of the crowd and the press, she made her first ever final in a tennis tournament. Having beaten the German Jana Kandarr 7-5, 6-3 in the semi-finals, Elena Bovina bowed to the superior experience of Spain’s Angeles Montolio in the final, winning the first set 6-3, but losing the remaining two sets 3-6 and 2-6.
