WHO COULD EVER DOUBT THE WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS WOULD DEFEND AN ECONOMIC CRIMINAL OUT OF IDEOLOGICAL MOTIVES?

As has been anticipated, representatives of the World Jewish Congress are condemning the arrest of Vladimir Gusinski, the congress’s vice-president, by the Spanish police. Surely, they could not have behaved differently. Alan Steinbek, the WJC executive director, thinks such acts are nothing other than the Putin administration’s attempt to keep on persecuting the Russian businessman. “We are very much concerned by the continued unfair treatment by the Russian authorities of the leader of the Russian Jewish community and the defender of the freedom of the media,” Mr. Steinbek said. Unfortunately, he would not tell journalists what he thought of diverting money from the creditors.
