Water level in Amur River goes higher than 9 meters

The water level in the Amur river near Komsomolsk-on-Amur rose higher than nine meters and made up 903 centimeters as of 12:00 Moscow time, September 10. In the next two days, the water level is expected to rise by 15-20 more centimeters.

The rising water burst through two dams in the city, flooding the city suburbs. Nearly 700 houses have been flooded. Evacuations are conducted daily - as many as 2,700 people have been evacuated from the flooded areas so far.

The flooding in the Khabarovsk region continues for a month already. In general, the water level has started to go down. Near the city of Khabarovsk, the water level in the Amur river has dropped to 739 centimeters.

At the moment, 3,046 houses in 73 villages remain flooded. As many as 100,000 people have been affected.
